The scratches was very minor and my car is scratched alittle as well.. well since it sounds like minor damage it can take a few days, you can always call back and nudge them so you can get the situation over with much quicker. If you're determined to hold onto your Villager, you will want to troubleshoot the steering system by following a simple checklist. Check the power steering fluid to make sure it's clean and level. If your fluid is low add an automatic transmission fluid, such as Motorcraft Mercon ATF XT-2-QDX, or its equivalent. If the system has dirt or air, you will need to bleed and replace the fluid. 2 Check the tires and wheel alignment for noises vibrations and pulling. You can avoid problems altogether by rotating and balancing your tires every 10,000 miles. Keep the pressure even and check for signs of wear. 3 Make sure the linkage is lubricated and the connections are properly adjusted. The Villager service manual suggests service inspection every 12,000 miles to avoid problems. Linkage problems can cause a range of problems from steering noise, to steering difficulty and even wheel control. 4 Inspect the power steering pump, steering rack and gearbox if the problems continue. Many steering problems are caused by tire wear, uneven tires, unbalanced wheels or poor alignment. These should also be the first items on your list when you experience steering pulls, vibrations or oscillations to save from more expensive service and repair. 2 Inspect the steering linkage every 15,000 miles and more often if you haul frequent heavy-duty loads. Keep the components well lubricated and replace them if they show signs of wear. 3 Keep your power steering fluid full, clean and free from air in the fluid lines. Check for leaks, loose connections and signs of age and wear. Ford recommends a full purge if your fluid becomes aerated or contaminated. 4 Check the power steering belt if you encounter hard steering problems. You may only need to tighten or replace it.
